Violins & More is a locally owned violin shop featuring our fulltime Luthier, Sam Howell.
We carry a full fleet of beginner’s instruments for rent or purchase. We also offer our exclusive step-up line of violins, violas and cellos for the advancing student. We are the only shop in Central Virginia to offer full Luthier services and step-up rentals!

We are thrilled to announce that we now carry BAM violin cases!
BAM is a French company that specializes in violin cases. Their mission is to create cases that are not only protective and durable, but also very stylish.
BAM has made a name for themselves for their constant commitment to new and innovative designs with affordable prices.
Violins and More are thrilled to announce that we now carry Snow violins!
We have for examination and trial the “Simona” and PV900 models.
The PV900 model (left) is made with a select European tonewood top and finished in golden-brown antiqued varnish.
“Simona” (Italian for One Who Listens) is Snow’s best mode in all Eurowood, minimally antiqued and personally varnished and adjusted by William Hu.
We are thrilled to announce that we now carry Jay Haide instruments!
Introducing our newest instrument, the top-of-the-line Vuillaume-model violin in all-European wood. Available for examination and trial.

We are proud to announce our latest acquisition, the Klaus Clement C5 cello. This powerhouse was made in Germany by master Luthier Klaus Clement. It is masterfully set up by our own Sam Howell and boasts of good projection and even tone. This instrument is suitable for the advancing player to professional. It is available for examination and trial.
Say “hello” to these three new beauties! We have acquired three new Arcos Brazil violin bows, including the Special Edition Gold Mounted bow.

Beginner’s Luck!

Violins and More of Lynchburg is pleased to announce another semester of our new group called, “Beginner’s Luck.” This group will get together on Tuesday nights, at the shop and play through easy and intermediate repertoire. This is a supportive and encouraging environment for adults who have started their musical journey or are dusting off their instrument from years ago. We do require at least one year of study.
When: Tuesday nights @ 6:00 p.m.
Where: Violins and More of Lynchburg, 3200 Memorial Avenue
Duration: March 4th- April 22nd, concert April 29th
Cost: $50 semester; $10 per class (drop in)
Materials: You will need a “Strictly Strings”, (We have them for purchase at Violins and More)

Instrument Rentals
We rent excellent, student level stringed instruments, K. Holtz fiberglass bows, and Bobelock cases. We buy all pieces individually and each instrument is set up by our in-house luthier before entering the rental fleet. All will be pleased by the quality of sound, the ease of tuning, and pegs that stay put.
Violins
Our rental violins range from 1/16 to 4/4:
Fractional size violin: $18 per month
Full size violin: $22 per month
Violas
Violas are available from 12" to 16.5":
$22 per month
Cellos
Cellos are available in 1/8 to full size:
$41 per month
Basses
Basses are available in 1/8 to 7/8 sizes:
$55 per month
Who We Are
Allan Heer
Allan Heer is an accomplished musician on organ and piano. He raised his family, with his wife, Angela in Baltimore, MD. They have been living in Lynchburg for 20+ years. When asked why this business became their passion, Angela and Allan stated, "We've found so much joy in music and wanted to share that joy with Lynchburg, especially the youth."
Rachel Love
Rachel Love is the front desk manager at Violins and More. She has a Master’s Degree in Education and is an accomplished classical singer. Rachel keeps the books and all the appointments.
Sam Howell
Sam is our repair shop manager as well as our luthier. Sam is an accomplished musician on cello and keeps a small private studio.
