Ms. Gina DiCarlo started studying music seriously at an early age, attending the Pennsylvania Academy of Music during her middle and high school years. She graduated from the program with honors, and won two concerto competitions on violin during her time there, performing the Barber violin concerto and Zigeunerweisen with orchestra. After high school, DiCarlo studied at the Eastman School of Music in New York under the tutelage of Lynn Blakeslee. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance and Music Education from ESM, with honors, in 2014.

After teaching orchestra at E. C. Glass High School for nine years, Ms. DiCarlo started teaching independently. Ms. DiCarlo, alongside her colleague Mr. Gregory Childress, now runs a private violin and viola studio in Lynchburg. She has experience teaching students from early elementary age all the way through adulthood, and enjoys meeting students where they are at to help them progress on their instrument and strengthen their musicianship in general. With a background in pedagogy and music theory, she is skilled at helping students navigate technical challenges, and enjoys helping students learn how to practice and hone skills that will make them independent learners. From true beginners to the advancing musician, Ms. DiCarlo has a place in her studio for all.

In addition to teaching lessons and performing on violin and viola, Ms. DiCarlo also serves as the Music Director of the Lynchburg Symphony Youth Orchestras, a position she has held since 2019. She leads both the String Orchestra and Symphonic Orchestra ensembles.
