I have been a dedicated cellist since 1982, a journey that began with a performance-based college scholarship supporting my work in symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, and a scholarship string quartet. While my academic focus moved in a different direction, my commitment to performance remained a constant; I have spent decades performing in community orchestras, musical theater productions, and various liturgical settings.
Since 2020, I have operated a private studio in Rocky Mount, Virginia, teaching both violin and cello to students ranging from age 4 to 60+. My pedagogical approach is centered on three pillars: strong technical fundamentals, vibrant musical expression, and confidence building. To foster growth and community, I organize quarterly recitals to provide students with consistent performance experience.
With over four decades of experience and years of dedicated teaching, I offer a blend of technical expertise and a patient, adaptable approach. My goal is to mentor well-rounded musicians by tailoring instruction to each student’s specific goals and learning style.
